Couples therapy

Find your way
back to each other.

When attempts to connect turn into arguments, defensiveness, or distance, it can be difficult to find your way back to each other. We help you understand the pattern between you and the feelings and needs beneath it.

Our couples work draws on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), a gold-standard treatment for relationship distress. Together, we work toward a more secure connection in which both partners can feel heard, valued, and able to reach for one another.

Our approach

Our therapeutic approaches.

Our work integrates evidence-based methods with relational, psychodynamic, and experiential perspectives. We explore how your experiences have shaped the way you see yourself and connect with others, while working actively with what you want to change today. Your therapist tailors treatment to your needs, with goals you establish together and revisit as you go.

Emotionally Focused
Couples Therapy (EFCT)

EFCT is grounded in attachment science and focuses on strengthening the emotional bond between partners. Your therapist helps you recognize the cycle that takes over when connection feels threatened: perhaps one person pushes to be heard while the other becomes defensive or pulls away.

In sessions, we slow these moments down, make space for each partner’s underlying feelings, and support more direct, responsive conversations. You practice reaching for one another and responding in ways that build trust and emotional safety.

Relational &
Psychodynamic Therapy

We explore how earlier relationships and experiences shape your expectations, coping strategies, and ways of relating today. Patterns that once helped you manage difficult circumstances may now leave you feeling stuck or disconnected.

The relationship with your therapist is part of the work. Your therapist is engaged and responsive, helping you recognize familiar dynamics as they arise, talk openly about what happens between you, and try new ways of connecting.

Experiential Therapy

Experiential work means putting insight into practice during sessions. Together, we slow down to notice emotions and physical responses as they arise and work with feelings that can be difficult to access or express.

At a pace that feels manageable, you practice responding differently. That might mean voicing a need, setting a boundary, or staying connected through a difficult conversation.

Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps you build a more flexible relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, so they have less control over your choices. Together, we clarify what matters to you and practice taking meaningful steps in that direction, even when discomfort is present.
